Space Shuttle
Nearly a hundred missions have been conducted so far under the space shuttle program being run by the US National Space Research Agency, NASA. The official name of the NASA-built space shuttle is the Space Transportation System (STS), which has been launched as a spacecraft by the combined efforts of the US government and NASA.
Space shuttles are also called space craft, but they are different from spacecraft. It is sent into space with a rocket, but often returns to Earth like normal aircraft. It can be used many times for space programs, only then it is reusable. It is the rockets that carry it.

What were the parts of the space shuttle?
The spacecraft was made up of three main parts: the orbiter, the external tank, and the solid rocket booster.
The orbiter was the part that looked like an airplane. The orbiter flew around the Earth. The astronauts were aboard and lived in this part. NASA had five orbits. The names of the orbiters were Atlantis, Challenger, Columbia, Discovery and Endeavor.
The outer tank was a large orange fuel tank.
Solid rocket boosters preferred two thin rockets. He lifts the rocket from the gravity of the Earth.
How did the space shuttle launch and land?
The spacecraft launched like a rocket. But it landed like a glider airplane. The main engines on solid rocket boosters and orbiters helped the rocket explode from Earth like a rocket. Two minutes after launch, both boosters took off from the shuttle. They fell into the ocean. A special boat took the boosters out of the sea. They were again used for another flight. After using all the fuel in the tank the outer tank dropped the orbiter. The outer tank will burn to the earth. Therefore the tank could not be used again.
With the help of the Space Shuttle, many major tasks were done such as large parts of the International Space Station (ISS) were sent to space and also launched the Hubble telescope.

Reusable Launch Vehicle – Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD) is one of the most technologically challenging endeavors of ISRO towards developing essential technologies for a fully reusable launch vehicle to enable low cost access to space
RLV-TD was successfully flight tested on May 23, 2016 from SDSC SHAR Sriharikota validating the critical technologies such as autonomous navigation, guidance & control, reusable thermal protection system and re-entry mission management.
